We usually eat at Jumps once a week and the food is consistently excellent. The service is sometimes a bit slow however this is not a fast food restaurant so I guess I don't expect to be rushed. Personal favorites include the crab cake appetizer, the seared salmon, Coq Au Vin, Porcini Dusted Beef Tenderloin, Pecan Crusted Whitefish and unexpectedly one of the best cheeseburgers in town! If you are hungry the angel hair pasta with Lobster and Scallops is delicious. My wife and I usually will eat here with our children and then head over to the elementary school next door to let the children play on the playground-as a result this has become our children's favorite restaurant!

I was highly disappointed. The atmosphere was strange......no one was in the restaurant and the staff stood around gossiping. The food was awful, and the bar was non existent meaning no bartender and limited top shelf liquor, my fiance and I were highly disappointed. The staff were staring like they couldn't wait for us to leave. We'll never be back..........over priced crap.

Very solid neighborhood eatery. Everything is always very fresh. Never really been dissatisfied with anything on the menu. It's simple fare, but it's all done very well. I'm a big fan of the scallop salad, and their sandwiches are all very solid. Given the death of good dining in Grosse Pointe, I really wish that there were more restaurants like Jumps. It's priced affordably (under $15). Ambience and food are hip enough to attract a younger crowd while still remaining quiet enough for the senior crowd.

I think unless you're from Grosse Pointe, you won't enjoy this restaurant. The service is extremely bad, the food is mediocre at best, and they don't take criticism well either. It's actually comical to me how bad this place is (and how well it personifies Grosse Pointe in general). We came here with a friend who lives in Grosse Pointe, and absolutely adores this restaurant. While most of my experiences in this parochial little town has been unpleasant, I assumed that coming here with a local would mean better service. Nope, we were wrong. We had the special that night, a walleye with chestnut stuffing and butternut squash puree -- sounds delicious right? The fish was half raw in certain parts (and don't get me wrong, I love raw sushi and eat it at least 2X a week) but this had the worst sickening texture of sliminess when you bite in. The fish was also painfully bland, and we poured on the salt and pepper to try and mask the odd flavor of fishiness that kept coming through. The stuffing was just bread... not really chestnut, and the puree was a smear for decorative purposes. I also had the baked alaska for dessert -- nothing special, just ice cream that's been really frozen with some marshmallow on top. The funny part came when our friend felt he should provide well intentioned feedback to the owner, giving many of the points I mentioned above. The owner's response was: well everyone else liked it just fine, I'll tell the chef, and abruptly walked away. What?? Where I come from (the rest of us lowly class citizens of metro Detroit, who lack the sophistication of Grosse Pointe), when a regular customer (or any customer) dislikes the food, you offer free dessert, or apologize for the experience or offer to discount the bill or SOMETHING. You never argue with the customer and walk away rudely. I'm told that their salmon is great, so maybe if you want to take a chance on bad treatment and potentially bad food... it could be worth a shot.

I'm shocked to see any marginal reviews posted. The atmosphere is traditional not trendy, just like the town. Jumps has the best food in Grosse Pointe. The chef is amazing and he usually comes out to personally inquire about the meal. It's impossible to make a bad choice, everything is prepared fresh and is always delicious. If you're not in the mood to count calories, get the lobster pasta... it's heaven on a plate.
